Manage Stress and improve your health
Stress in our lives is a given. it can come from positive experiences such as buying a new home, changing careers or having a baby. It can also stem from negative sources such as a loss of a relationship, partner, job or lifestyle. There are times we will have more of it and times we will have less. But stress is always present in our lives and stress can take a toll on our emotional and physical health if not handled well. Therefore, it is vitally important that we have some way to manage stress.

 Problems associated with stress:
  • When under pressure, some people are more likely to drink heavily, eat too much or smoke, as a way of getting immediate relief from stress.

  • Others may have so much work to do that they do not exercise or eat properly.

  • Stress may interfere with  sleep, or a person may worry so much that they sleep badly.

  • The link between stress and heart disease is well-established. If stress is intense, and stress hormones are not ‘used up’ by physical activity, our raised heart rate and high blood pressure put tension on arteries and cause damage to them. As the body heals this damage, artery walls scar and thicken, which can reduce the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart. Stress hormones accelerate the heart to increase the blood supply to muscles; however, blood vessels in the heart may have become so narrow that not enough blood reaches the heart to meet these demands. This can cause a heart attack.

  •  Stress has been also been found to damage the immune system, which explains why we catch more colds when we are stressed. It may intensify symptoms in diseases that have an autoimmune component, such as rheumatoid arthritis.

  • Stress affects headaches and irritable bowel syndrome, and there are now suggestions of links between stress and cancer.

  •  Stress is also associated with mental health problems and, in particular, anxiety and depression.

At Campbell Wellness Consulting we can help you to manage stress better so that you can be healthy, happy and confident no matter what challenges you may face!

email from a client who I helped with a fear of flying and heights:
Hi Linda,
I wanted to update you about my recent trip to Mexico and the success of my hypnotherapy sessions with you.  I was able to fly to Mexico and home without a care.  It was so nice being able to enjoy the flight in a "normal" relaxing way.  In fact, I slept most of the trip home-- something I was never able to do previously.  Without fear or hesitation, I was able to climb open stairs, go into small confined spaces; lean over cliffs and look down, snorkel in an underground river system and the ocean and I even went parasailing.  I have to tell you that all of the friends and family that joined us on our trip were equally surprised by what I was able to do.
I have one more session with you and am now trying to decide which of my several other "quirks" you can fix for me.
Thank you so much for putting my fears to rest.

Email from a client I helped with performance Anxiety:

The sessions so far have been a neat journey...The process subtle and not what I expected, but in tune with what I think I've needed.

Your intelligence and insight are much appreciated, and I'm sorry I didn't give you a hug when I left. I should have. I sometimes speak a complex and indeterminate kind of language, and it's wonderful to work with someone who can follow it as my horse charges off in all directions.

Thank you! I'll stay in touch no matter what. You do feel like a friend as well as a therapist..It's all been a great pleasure..
