About Hypnotherapy
The term "hypnosis" is derived from the Greek word hypnos , meaning "sleep." However, a person in hypnosis is NOT asleep and, in fact, is in a more focused state. Hypnotherapy is a non-invasive and typically client-centered therapy which allows the client to access his or her own subconscious mind.  It is the subconscious mind that contains the long-term memory, emotions, habits and the belief system of the individual. During Hypnotherapy sessions the  Hypnotherapist typically uses exercises that bring about deep relaxation and an altered state of consciousness, also known as a trance. Many people routinely experience a trance-like state while they are watching television or sitting at a red light. A person in a trance or deeply focused state is unusually responsive to an idea or image. Therefore, during  sessions, unhealthy or limiting behaviours or beliefs can be examined and altered, new behaviours can be suggested, negative past experiences  can be neutralized and emotions can be understood. In hypnosis, one can also access the creative abilities of the vast subconscious mind to find solutions to problems and one can tap into the long term memory to understand and release the effect  that past experience has had on them. This leads to improved physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health for the client. At Campbell Wellness consulting, all of our Hypnotherapists have been certified by the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association. How many treatments will I need?

Hypnotherapy is a relatively short term therapy when compared to traditional talk therapy methods. In a study conducted by Dr. Alfred Barrios in the 80's and published in American Health magazine, talk therapy showed a success rate of 38% after 600 sessions. Compare this to the success rate of Hypnotherapy of 97% after only SIX sessions!
At Campbell Wellness Center, our standard hypnotherapy sessions run approximately an  hour in length. Together, you and your hypnotherapist will monitor and evaluate your progress over time so that you get the support necessary to accomplish your goal. Children, because they are easily hypnotized, tend to respond more rapidly to hypnosis.
